How to Check if Your Online Accounts Have Been Hacked (and What to Do Next)

Data breaches happen almost every day. Whether it's a social media platform, a gaming service, or an online shop, your email and password might already be in the hands of hackers. Here is how to find out if you’ve been compromised and how to secure your digital life.
1. Use "Have I Been Pwned"
The most reliable tool in the world is HaveIBeenPwned.com.
Simply enter your email address.
It will scan thousands of data breaches and tell you exactly which sites leaked your information.
If it turns up "Red," don't panic! It just means you need to take action.
2. Check Your Google and Meta Security Centers
Google: Go to your Google Account settings and check "Security Checkup". It will show you if any unrecognized devices are logged into your Gmail or YouTube.
Facebook/Instagram: Go to Settings > Accounts Center > Password and Security > Where you're logged in. If you see a device from another country, log it out immediately.
3. What to Do if You Are Compromised
Change Your Passwords: Use a unique, strong password for every site. Never reuse the same password!
Enable 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication): This is the single most important step. Even if a hacker has your password, they won't be able to log in without the code from your phone.
Use a Password Manager: Tools like Bitwarden (which we recommended in our Top 10 Apps list) can generate and store complex passwords for you.
TileTechZone Tip: If you see a "Pwned" result for a site you haven't used in years, delete the account entirely. The less data you have out there, the safer you are!
