Is your Android phone dying before the day is over? While batteries naturally degrade over time, your settings play a huge role in how fast the percentage drops. Here are 5 practical ways to make your phone last longer without sacrificing performance.
1. Identify Battery-Draining Apps
Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Usage. Look for apps that consume high percentages in the background. If you see an app you barely use draining your power, consider uninstalling it or "Restricting" its background activity.
2. Use "Dark Mode" (For OLED Screens)
If your phone has an AMOLED/OLED screen (most modern Androids do), Dark Mode isn't just for looks. Since OLED pixels turn off completely to show black, using a dark theme can save significant power.
3. Lower the Refresh Rate
Many new phones support 90Hz or 120Hz for smooth scrolling, but this consumes more energy. If you are on a long trip and need your phone to last, switch back to Standard 60Hz in Settings > Display.
4. Turn Off "Always On Display" (AOD)
While convenient, having the clock always visible on your screen can drain 1% to 2% every hour. Turning it off can give you an extra hour of usage by the end of the day.
5. Disable Unnecessary Scanning
Even when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are off, your phone might be scanning for nearby devices. Go to Settings > Location > Location Services and turn off Wi-Fi Scanning and Bluetooth Scanning.
TileTechZone Tip: Avoid letting your battery drop to 0% or charging it to 100% every single time. Keeping it between 20% and 80% is the "sweet spot" for long-term battery health!
